Saltwater from Brute Can to Bucket

This may be a silly question...How can I get the saltwater I made from my 32 gallon Brute on wheels to a 5 gallon bucket? Can’t exactly tip it out. Any recommended pumps with a hose?

I pump mine straight out of the brute and into my tank. I have a cheap Jaebo pump, plugged into a cheap smart plug through alexa, and can toggle it on and off from my phone.

If the brute container already has water in it and you are unable to put a spigot or valve near the bottom I would take any spare pump you may have and attach a long tube to it. Place the pump in the brute and the tube in the 5-gallon bucket. Turn the pump on and voila. You can reverse this process as well to get the water out of the 5-gallon bucket.

Mine is made in my basement also, I pump it upstairs

I use a cheap pump with a silicon tube. Nothing too exciting...

Dip it in there. Unless you buy an expensive pump its gonna a take all day to pump it.

If you do decide to pump get a foot operated switch controller. If you use a smart switch it wont be long until you are mopping up water.

I use an inexpensive pump in the bottom of the brute container that pumps either into one of the tanks or into buckets. I have a valve at the end of the hose.

Nope. Cheap jaebo pump, pumps it out of my basement and into my tank. About 20 gallons in probably about 5 mins.

This is my exact situation.

i just use my water change python hose. the only problem is when it gets low. but at that point its light enough i could tip it. when i'm lazy i just add more RODI and salt.

i'm contemplating building a stand for the brute to raise it higher than the bucket so gravity can get all of the water out.

What I do is I have my pump hard plumbed into the bottom of the brute. The same pump mixes, as pumps out. And it's a 44 gallon brute, and I only do 20 gallon water changes, so the few gallons at the bottom are not an issue. And the pump is only $100, and easily pumps it up to the next floor.

yea i was thinking of making a full water change station with an external pump. i have a Jebao dcp-8000 that i was going to use for another build as the mixing pump right now.

Works great, and doesn't cost much. Especially if you already have the can and pump.

@Chipper1978 we have the same situation. I make 20-30G saltwater in the basement and then pump it into 5G jugs. Carry them upstairs and the into my 120G reef tank.

Luckily there is a bathroom near the tank so I can siphon water out of the tank and then just refill with fresh saltwater. I looked at pumping from the basement but I need about 18-20’ of head pressure which is an expensive pump.

Lots of good ideas. Hopefully one will work for you

Like I said, I use one Jaebo 10,000 which is about $100. And I'm pushing it probably 30'

Cheap pump and a python hose.
I have ball valves in both ends of the hose. I close the valve at the tank end, then plug in the pump, go to tank and open valve.
Yes the pump just churns against the closed valve for 15 seconds. Nbd cheap pump
