Saltwater from ocean...is it OK?

I travel for work, and as I do live in the RGV, I am in corpus about twice a week. I have heard nothing about them globs in corpus or south padre in some years.
The worst thing that happened lately, is a power plant that developed asphalt or something had a malfunction and contaminated all of Corpus' water supply. That includes surrounding areas. Symptoms were crazy, from growths to cancer [emoji33][emoji33].. my hotel at the time ran to all the rooms and gave out water bottles and we were told not to shower or use faucet water, even to wash hands.

Yeah I remember hearing about that, think Dallas sent a bunch of water... There were billboards around town thanking dallas for their support.. That's nuts though. shower after the beach with bottled water?!

That's good the globs have stopped, think I'd still hesitate to use gulf Coast water since they used that dispersal agent that basically just sunk the oil.. I guess we aren't really breeding anything so it may be fine.. I am very risk averse though.. Haha

Yea I heard that too, and since SA wasn't far away, people drove over there and came back with water because it would take longer in line at sams in corpus. I had a client drive to SA for a PALLET of bottled water! Good guy, he got it for his staff and their families. Yup, people had to shower with bottled water or water from those 5g jugs.
Gulf, well, It may be safe to swim in but I don't think it's quality for a reef.

I live in Virginia Beach about 15 minutes from the ocean front, anyone here pull water from around Sand Bridge?

I wouldn't use water from close to any major city. I would go out at lest a mile. otherwise you will get high concentration of pollution.

I used NSW when I lived in Hawaii. 10 minute drive for me. 2 hours for you with 2,000 lbs of water may be more trouble than it is worth.

Well Sand Bridge is for all intents and purposes outside of the city. It's a 7 mile long old sand bar with a brackish shallow lake behind it. The area I'm looking at is at the south end of the residential area next to the wildlife reserve where the beach is well taken care of by the city and state and local residents since it's a high dollar area.

I live near Tarpon Springs in Pasco County Florida, just north of St. Pete, I wonder if that would be good

I get my water from Fred Howard park some times if I’m working down that way.. incoming tide and wait a couple days If we gat rain.. test the salinity because there is some springs out there that dump in dreads water so it may be low.. and I don’t filter mine at all.. test it too. But it should be good
