I was expecting my live rock shipment today and purchased 30 gallons of salt water last night to fill as soon as my rock is set up. Now, my rock may not be here for 3 more days. Is it ok to leave the saltwater in the jugs or should I fill the tank and turn on the pump? It’s new tank and was going to add live sand after the rock, then water.

It’s okay to leave saltwater in the jugs just make sure the cap is closed tight , I store up to 20 gallons of salt water for emergency tank changes. It should be fine for 3 days

It will be fine you have more that a few days at least. Just close lids tightly. You can always add wave maker to buckets to mix them up before adding if thats your concern. I keep 5 gallons of saltwater in a container at all times for emergency.

I'm gonna echo what the others have said here, it will be fine. But I'm also going to tell you, in my experience, it's better to put the sand in first, then the rock, then the water. When putting the rock in, slightly twisting it or moving it back and forth will ensure that it has sand underneath it filling in pores/holes along the bottom, and create a foot around the rock to hold it in place. That's just my experience with it, others may feel differently.
