Hey everyone!

I am going to be starting to build my saltwater mixing station within the next week. I'm looking to get some input on a few things.

I would like any advice on how to drill the containers for the bulkheads. I am also going to be installing murloc bulkheads, what kind of drill bit would I use or would it be a hole saw for this as well?

Should i take any considerations with how to manage wires that are going into the tanks? the saltwater tank will have a heater and the freshwater tank will have a tunze osmolator and a tunze ro water controller. Would it be best to use an electrical bulkhead for these things?

Was there anything that you did to make them quiet? I would imagine that the splashing of water may get annoying. I was considering spraying the saltwater output onto the side of the container to reduce splashing and to create a swirling motion to help mix salt.

The tanks came in pretty dirty, I cleaned what I could with a mixture of vinegar and water which did a pretty good job, but theres still some marks that I cant get off. Any thoughts on how to clean these better? It seems like its almost imbedded in the material, I'm tempted to try sanding it out but i'm not sure about that

Thanks for the advice!

I would use a hole saw to drill for the bulkhead. Hopefully there is a flat spot.
for the eclectically I used a hole saw for that as well. I keep a towel over the hole to keep any dust/contaminants out of the tanks. Note you will also need something to mix the saltwater unless you are doing a closed loop system.
As far as noise goes i have the same brand but horizontal tanks and they are pretty quiet.

Great. I just bought the appropriately sized hole saws for the bulkheads and john guest fittings. When I drill that is it high speed and low pressure? This is definitely something i don't want to mess up.

I also had another thought about this, I'm going to be using a kamoer dosing pump for my ATO. I know that a syphon shouldn't happen but is there any way that it could fail?

I would go low speed so you don't melt the plastic, then if there are any rough areas around the hole I would smooth them out. Sometimes when I install bulkhead I will also put a bead of silicone on both sides just to make sure they don't leak (probably overkill).

I don't think a failure of the actual dosing pump would cause a syphon, I would be more concerned if a dosing line came loose or the dosing tubing failed.
