Hey guys i bought 40#'s of live rock from my LFS about 2 weeks ago and noticed this thick coarse moss-like stuff on one of the rocks. Has not spread since ive had it and it looks alot thicker than hair algae what is it?

My guess on the pics is bryopsis. Yank that rock out and H2O2 dip it. That stuff is nasty!

Yea it seems to have the turf algae characteristics! Id hate to move all the rocks around and stress the fish out to get that rock out. The article said sea urchins, chitons, and emerald crabs eat it, which of the 3 would be the best to add to my tank to eat it? Ive heard people having problems with emerald crabs causing trouble with other tank mates but im open to opinions!

I would just pull the rock. looks like its in an easy place to do it. if its not glued too hard.
youll be happier with the results.

How long should i soak it in hydrogen peroxide for?

use a solution, although its of to pour on full, just rinse very very well. 5 min if more than fine. I like to do stuff like that on WC day and use the old tank water. you can use tap or rodi as well. I dont like to soak in MY tap water though.
