Hey guys, I do a 15 gallon a week water change on my 150. When I make my mix, I fill a 32 gallon brute container with RODI about a day or 2 before the change, the mix I use is Reef Crystals. Anyway, I store the water thats left for the next week, it only sits for about 7 or 8 days until the next WC. However, for some reason when I go to do my WC a week later the container has a funny odor to it. Is this normal, should I be doing something like putting an airstone in the container to keep it fresh?
Thanks,
Ed

A lot if people have there water stored, myself I always have it running with a pump, heater and an air stone. Not hard to top off a batch of water with nothing in it to compensate for evaporation

Are you storing saltwater or RO/DI? Only RO/DI should be used for top offs unless you are correcting the salinity. I have stored excess saltwater for a week or two in a container with a lid and noticed that the salinity would spike up.

Ive smelled it too in same type of brute container. You can throw like a nylon or mesh bag of carbon in. That should help out. Agreed with post before this one, its important to keep saltwater moving. Be sure to check salinity due to evaporation before WC.
