We are new to the saltwater community, and looking for fellow enthusiasts who can share tips, and advice.

Well you found those fellow enthusiasts here on R2R! Welcome and ask away with any questions.

We currently have a 40gallon reef tank setup, and have a few fish and corals. We have. A hob skimmer, and it is running funny right now, unfortunately the last time it sounded like that, one of our damsels was stuck in the intake tube... I cannot find my domino, and hope this hasent happened again, we hv made sure to keep water levels lower than last time to avoid this problem. Is there something that we can use to be sure it dosent suck up any more fish?

The tube end of the filter should have a "basket" on it. If not, I'm sure you could find another at your LFS.
