Any tips on making it move away from the zoas? I'd rather not take the rock out (it's not easy to get too) and the nem is in a hole in the rock so I can't really remove the nem either. Right now I've got a small powerhead blasting it, anything else you guys can recommend I do?

What does it make you wonder?? I can't get a picture of the one stinging the zoas because the powerhead has it unhappy. Heres a picture of one of my other identical ones.

A baby and a medium sized one in the pic

Ahh .. Rock Flower anemones will definitely bother Zoas..
Moving either the zoos or the nen's will solve the problem.
Putting Rock Flowers in a PVC pipe cap is a common "trick" to make them stay in place while allowing them to be moved if necessary.

There is a rock flower on the left in my picture. I'm having an issue with one of my sand anemones (the type on the right). They are very similar to rock flowers except they're stickier and reproduce differently

I'm really hoping not to remove the zoas or the nem, they're in a tough spot to work with. I'm trying the powerhead first, open to other suggestions

The name, sand anemone. The proper name is rock anemone or rock flower anemone.

Sigh it's slightly different then rock flowers. This type spits out about one baby a month and I'd way stickier.

Btw that's some nice ones you have.

Thanks!

Some people freeze RO water and rub the ice cube on it and they'll sometimes shrivel and move no guarantee.

Oops, I responded in your quote tupes

It's ok. I know what you ment.

Ok ya I can try an ice cube, do you think it'll hurt the zoas before the nem moves?

How were your zoas growing before the nem? If they grow good they should have a good fighting chance

Weigh all your options and ask yourself this, are the zoas being stung expensive? Are these zoas worth sacrificing if it means the nem will be happy here and probably won't move again for a long time? If I do get the nem to move where will I move it to? Will it wonder off its new spot and sting and even more expensive coral?

Mixing anemones and corals is always a gamble and sometimes you lose. I for one will let my anemone wonder with in limits. He once killed a $30 frag of zoas but it was well worth the 30 as it didn't move again.

Ya I really like the zoas but I have another bunch of them in a different spot, I was wondering if I should just leave it be...

It's a tough call for sure. If you do want to make the nem move don't blast it with flow. If it is completely balled up the chances of it moving are slim to none. Instead start with low flow enough to keep the nem happy and make it think it found a good spot, then bring the flow up little by little. You want to irritate it enough so that it will move but not so much that it will close up. Anemones will naturally close up during storms, riptides and natural high flow situations. Their instinct is to close up and ride it out.
