sand bed help

hey every one i needd help on this one bad my bio cube has been runing for four yeara now i only have a inch deep sand bed my mistake on not trowing more in the begining any was iam about to trow in a 40 lb bag what is the safest way to do this?? thanks
 
Pvc tube and slowly pour in over a week. Also why not try barebottom?

What's wrong with a 1" sand bed. From what I know it's either 1.5" or less or more than 4". Anything in between is kind of no man's land.
 
I used to do deep sand beds worked great but alway had phosphates above .50 now Im near 0 all the time and can clean my tank a lot easier with no sand bed. All i do is point powerhead and the sand glass and everything flows into the over flow.

+1! This is what I do in the 150g reef.
 
thanks guys i have a 3.5" sandbed in this baby now i found out from my local pet store owner witch he also is a marinebiologist that it is find to add it slowly deep sand beds are good :bigsmile:
