Last year i upgraded from my 58g to a 120g, i used about 5 cups of my old sand bed to help seed the new sand. The sand is about 4" deep, my problem is my sand bed is turning into concrete. Thoughts on what i should do?

I have a sand sifting star fish, that seems to not have helped. Alex I'll check my alk and dkh, i'm due ;)

I would remove the sand-sifting sea star, add sand-shifting snails and reseed the sandbed. Sand-sifting sea stars feed on and consumebv the microorganisms within the sandbed that keep it live. A single star can easily eliminate all the organisms essential for a live sandbed even in a larger tank. As already mentioned, making sure you're not adding to too many supplements will also help.
