My sand bed is not looking good, a lot of brown spots and looking like I'm getting some cyanobacteria in my sand. I didn't even know that was possible. What should i do?

Even the cyano? From my learnings that is a good thing, the algae in your sand bed will help consume excess nutrients
That's actually kind of normal for a DSB. I cheated and used a 2' strip of tape across the bottom. My sand bed is not looking good, a lot of brown spots and looking like I'm getting some cyanobacteria in my sand. I didn't even know that was possible. What should i do?

No light no algae, smaller cyano Population. So, nothing i should be to concerned about? What kind of tape did you use? That's actually kind of normal for a DSB. I cheated and used a 2' strip of tape across the bottom. No light no algae, smaller cyano Population.
You sir, are a genius!! Time to get some tape across my tank in front of sand bed. I've always had that reddish, bubble filled, worm hole littered area across the front of my tank and aside from a totally different cyano outbreak, green, never had any issues stem from it. The root of that outbreak is yet to be determined, however I think I have an idea where it stemmed from. But it still isn't purdy to look at. LolThat's actually kind of normal for a DSB. I used a black cloth tape.. Some call it black gaffers tape. So, nothing i should be to concerned about? What kind of tape did you use?
There a fine line between genius and stoopid..You sir, are a genius!!

+1Like mentioned above what your seeing is actually quite common and nothing to worry about. If you start to see patches of black develop though that's a different story.
