I finally decided to add a sand bed to my reef tank. I thought It looked good at first but after a day or two I noticed it was being pushed around in mounds from the flow. It seems like no matter how I move my pumps the sand keeps getting piled up and it's slowly covering the rocks. It's driving me crazy and it ends up looking bad when you can see the glass on the bottom of the tank in places. I just wasn't a level sand bed. What should I do?

Decreasing the amount of flow in the tank or replacing the sand with a larger grain size is really all you can do IMO.

I have sand in my tanks but my 2 power heads are on the top maybe 4 to 5 inches from the top. Try doing that I have no problem with the sand in my tank. The only way my sand moves is when my goby moved it for me. I use live sand tho not sure what u are using

Heavier sand is what fixed it after almost a year of struggling to find the right settings. I originally had that almost powdered sugar like sand and added some that was more like rock salt and I have no sand issues now.
