Hi all. My sand bed is too fine and I can't achieve decent flow without a sandstorm so I'm going to slowly switch it out.

I want to achieve high flow in the tank without bald spots appearing but id also like to keep my nas snails and sand sifting goby.

Any product reccomendations?

+1 on Tropic Eden. I like the basic Reefflakes size grain. From PremiumAquatics' website:

Aragasnow - 0.5mm
Tonga Special Pink - 0.8mm
Miniflakes - 2.0mm
Mesoflakes - 2.7mm
Reefflakes - 3.0mm
Reefflakes Grand Select - 4.5mm

@don_chuwish All that info is correct on Tropic Eden, except the Special Pink grain size which is at 1.8mm

We like to mix 2 parts Special Pink with 1 part Mesoflakes or Reeflakes. That seems to give the best grain combination for keeping everything put as well as a healthy environment for sand sifters like gobies. We also sell Tropic Eden and it’s our go-to for new startup tanks. @Willbiker you’re making a good choice.

Hope this helps

Interesting - so another online vendor has the stats wrong. I just did a copy-paste! ;-)
Thaaaaaat's why you always fact check with the OGS (original supplier) lol. Thing is that Tropic Eden is kindof under the radar right now, so we just like to advertise correct information for them *shrug emoji*

Any more questions welcome. Sand is a very important part of any new build, and arguable the most important for gobies (other than choosing nutrient rich, heavy food)

Changed from fine sand to special grade because of the same reason. I couldn't be happier! Great sand!

@twotidesaquariumsupply - aside from the cool pink flecks, what advantages do you find mixing Special Pink with Reeflakes?
