Finally finished adding sand last weekend .
rinsed as @brandon429 instructed .
With no clouding at all .

I will say , when your arms are sore from stirring . You’re almost half way rinsing .
Now the question .
I have a huge spot in the middle of my tank where the flow pushes sand away from the glass and making some posts deeper then I would prefer .

is there a way to correct it or is this a on going battle with having sand and providing enough flow ?

If DC pump, reduce percentage or if fixed, change angle upwards or deflect off the glass to reduce power

Not normal adjusting your return pumps and nossles or power heads at the rock work or above the sand should fin the problem. You have to fine the balance close enough to the sand but not moving it. Hope this helps
Thank you . I’ll play around with the wave maker I added a few weeks ago. .
It wasn’t a problem until adding more sand .

It’s deflecting off the front glass roughly in the middle .

I have 2 cross flow pumps. .one on each end facing inward .
and adding a wave maker in the back right pointed towards the front and middle of the tank .
I believe that’s the one causing the turbulence on the sandbed

Did you get the super fine grain sand or did you get something "special grade" or larger?

The really fine stuff like oolite can only handle maybe 10x tank volume turnover per hour without sandstorming and lumping into piles. The special grade can take like 50x turnover and stay put.

I made that mistake once of using too fine grain and had to remove half and mix with special grade.

It’s the larger aragonite

Bingo. Didn't see that before I posted about the sand size.

A back pump you want pretty low in intensity and angled slightly up and at an angle at least 10 degrees off perpendicular with the glass. You want it to bounce around and deflect off the surface and the glass.
