Sand Bottom

I have been running bare bottom for almost two years. We know it allows for nutrient control and flow. I just couldn't get over how clinical it looks. So, after months of debate, I added a shallow sand bed. Visually, the difference is night and day. I am so happy with it I could pee a little. I wanted to share in case others might be nervous as I was. Should anything go south, I will post updates.

The sand is Carib Sea Aragonite and was rinsed heavily in tap water. It was poured through a funnel and pvc pipe. Any cloudiness disappeared in less than 2 hrs.

I have to agree with you. I like it both ways but it sure looks nice with sand.

So much brighter with the sand. Looks great both ways though.
 
I wonder how this will work, since you've already gone through cycling without sand and it hasn't been a host for any bad bacteria, this might actually work very well.
