Hi Everyone! I was wondering what the best sand cleaner was when it comes to aquariums? I'm not looking for a fish, but more like a vacuum for my sand. My tank is a 55 gallon.
 
If you do not want a fish then we would recommend going with either fighting conchs or sand siftings stars as they both do a great job going through the sand.

What I used to do before I had bare bottom tanks. . . back when I was a sand plebian (only kidding!). . . was take a aquascaping spatula (basically a stainless steal stick) and turn the substrate before or during water change, then run filter floss for an hour after the change and then throw it away.

I was doing this on very small systems so not sure how viable or safe it is for a massive sand bed.
