I've a small 35 litre tank very low flow rate home to my pipefish that has a 1.5" sandbed full of pods etc .

I'm setting up a new tank of a similar size for them but will also soon be setting up a 100g system with dsb sump.

I think generally recommendation is to start a new system with new sand which I'll be doing in main large system.

Question is should I use the sand in pipe's tank in their new home or start with new or retain it in their new home - issues with disturbing?

or move this well populated sand as part of the 100g dsb

or use it to seed dsb and new pipe tank and ditch the rest

all views welcome - cheers

Personally, I would use the upper layer as a seed layer for both tanks and then ditch the rest.
