We’ve all seen the “underwater waterfalls” where sand is constantly falling down a rock face, and recycled to the top. There are countless pictures of them being used in planted tanks, and it’s beautiful! My question is, has anyone implemented them into reef tanks? I’d be very interested to see this :) what are your thoughts?

Im envisioning clogged pumps, upset coral and sand falling on fish sending one into a panic thinking its' ich

Maybe low flow tank, not heavy corals, just some Kenya tree, mushrooms etc, and heavy coarse sand in the fall?? I don’t have the will power to actually build this, I was just curious to see if someone made it work lol - guess I know now

I'd love to see someone else do it!

I would think with all the calcium and trace elements in the water it might clog easier than in freshwater?

I was thinking if it would be possible using plexiglass in a corner so it’s confined to one area with much less flow? Kinda like a see through overflow?
