So I’m in the process of cycling my first tank. (IM 40 nuvo). The sand in the front right section of my tank always seems to get moved so it looks like I have a lot less there. For flow I have an innovative marine wavelink set at speed 4, (of a possible 9), and a sicce 2.0 running at full power. Also a IM slip stream on one of the lines coming in. The wave link is on the top left rear side of the tank. Basically the complete opposite corner of the problem. I attached a picture. Andy ideas?

Your only options are to reduce the pumps power, change the direction of the returns, or adjust the live rock to prevent that area from receiving so much flow. I guess you can also remove the sand and replace with a larger diameter (or go BB) but that is if you are really desperate :)

I reduced the wavelink to 3. Let’s see what happens....

It will definitely help...kind of a fine balance between providing enough flow for the livestock but not moving the sand. The fine sand looks the best in my opinion, but it is also the hardest to keep in place.

I set it down to 3, and moved the wave make just a little bit closer to the back of the tank, and it seems to have solved the sand issue. its been in the same spot for a couple days now.

I had this same issue and it was a pain to find a good spot where the power heads didn’t stick out and look bulky and the sane didn’t get blown around lol

Well I decided to add a sand sifting goby and that lil mo-fo has just made my sand bed a mess anyway, but he is keeping it clean.
