Upgrading from a 55 to a 90 tomorrow. Debating whether to do sand, or switch it up and go bb. Thoughts / opinions on which you like better and why? Does the rock work become more unstable without the sand? How do you clean the bottom of the tank?
Let's hear your thoughts :)

My sand for sure helped stable up the rocks, but it's all about what your fish need IMO. I'm actually about to start adding more due to wanting some sort of leopard wrasse :)

I'd say put some sand in. Don't go too fine or they will get blown ever where. I use the aragonite ones from caribsea. Using sand will make the setting look more natural. It's also good for bacteria to grow on.

Is there any way to use my current sand? Or is that a big no no?

You'll just need to scoop it up and transfer it over. There's really no other way of doing it.

I like sand but it will create some algae. It will definitely help stabilize the roxks

By transferring the sand, does that stir some bad stuff up? Will that wreak havoc at all?

I like sand.

I think it has a natural look.

I think it adds another place for various small creatures to live and contribute to the flora of the tank.

Also certain larger creatures like sand like wrasses and conchs.
