I have had washed play sand in my freshwater tank for 8 months now.no issues at all with water chem.or fish.would it be safe to rinse it and put into a saltwater tank .I plan on seeding it will live rock and in no hurry to get fish or coral.thanks much

From my limited knowledge I have seen it go both ways for answers to that. I personally did not go with it, but I got my sand used for helping move and clean out a tank for a local reefer

I used it in a tank and had no issues with it. It'll leach silica (which fuels certain algaes), but I found that to be minimal as long as you have adequate filtration and husbandry.

I've also read that sometimes in high flow systems, it will get picked up by the currents because of the super fine granules. Obviously your setup might be different. It's really your preference. If you are going to use in your SW setup, it probably wouldn't hurt to rinse it off in some RODI water before adding it.
