Hi fellow reefers,
Question: just added water to my display tank. Water became cloudy due to sand particles. Do you leave the return pump on or off it so that the sand particles settle down?
I am keeping my wave make off.

Using caribsea fiji pink live sand. I have filter socks in my sump. Did not rinse the sand.

Pls advice

If it is a new tank, just let everything run and filter so that you can clear the cloud and remove the particles. Let the wave maker run too. Mix it as much as possible to get it all out. - IMHO

I use caribsea fiji pink live sand as well, not that it matters much. Sand is sand and all live as well as dry will cloud up if you don't rinse it. Always rinse any sand you put in a tank or it will cloud. @MaiReef is right on, you need to keep that water moving so the silt can be filtered out and not settle back on the sand bed. What are you using for mechanical filtration? That'll get clogged quickly, so make sure to rinse out your socks or whatever you are using. Also, stir the sandbed vigorously to get the silt into the water column to get it filtered out.

Made a mistake by not rinsing the sand
Yeah, but it's OK. Don't worry about it, your tank will be fine. Just clean the skimmer, socks, etc of all the silt. Everyone has done this and some do it on purpose to make sure that live bacteria populates their tank, so you are fine Kilo. No worries man.
