Sand Sifter Star Bad?

I bought a sand sifter Star the other day and it buried itself immediately. I was looking on the internet as to why and if it would resurface and I found a lot of discussion on that they are bad for some natural elements in your sand and will increase your nitrate level. Also that they will probably run out a food and die after some time unless you have a very large tank I was trying to see if I could get some clarification on this while I can still return him. Thanks again for any input.

I have HD mine for 1 year in a 125. I plan on pulling it out because I read all the same stuff. Mine resurfaces all the time moves around. Some times climbs the glass

Yea it has me concerned in a major way because I only have a 30 gl.

mmm no. food increases that. being eaten makes it easier for bacteria to eat. Pre chew

some natural elements in your sand

only worms and sand bugs.

Success with the animal would be in what style are you going with. Does he eat enough so he survives. Do you want the sand bugs to do his job instead.

In a 30 I dunno if he has enough to eat. not my tank. In my 30w DSB I have other bugs, and he'd eat them.
