Hey guys,

Wondering what corals are very sensitive to sand being blown onto them.

I am considering a sleeper goby, but have read issues with the falling sand killing corals.

My tank is primarily:

GSP
Zoas
Hammers
Torches
Gonis

Anyone think sand from a sifting goby will have a serious impact on any of these corals?

I did read that Acans, brain corals, plate corals are very sensitive to sand.

Thanks!

You could probably counter act the sand being left on coral for long periods of time by having a large granule sand and higher flow... that may work.

It wont matter what size sand. You will just have to dedicate yourself to blowing the sand off. It is a relentless assault on any corals that grow on rocks near the substrate or any corals that sit on the substrate. Bury anything and it will die.

the sand sifters, particularly a diamonds ime, will just wholesale move sand. its just what they do.

Mine loves burying my rock flower nem. I have to blow it off daily. But he's got his own little den under my aqua scape he has clear a spot down to the glass. So fat no avalanche of rocks Knock on wood.. lol Glues holding everything together.
