Ok so I'm looking for information on this starfish from what does it eat, survival in the home aquarium, to ability in regrowing its limbs. The reason is I have a friend that was crazy enough to put a puffer in his 25g with all his inverts and now his star has lost half of four of its limbs and just decided to let it go into my hands and I want to nurse it back to health.

They're carnivores. Sometimes they'll take pieces of fish/squid/shrimp. Sometimes... The problem is there are about a dozen species sold as 'sand sifters'. Their diets can be very, very specific. Or not.

Ok I'll try that he's gonna be bringing it tomorrow so I'll be preparing to get it some substitute and see how it goes

I have one that has been in my tank for about a year. He even did well when I moved and started with fresh dry sand.
