Sand starfish

I recently bought a sand shifting star fish. When I put it in my tank it buried in the sand and has not come out. Can you tell me if it will come out ?

Have you looked for it at night with lights off? Iirc, they are kinda shy and nocturnal.

I didn't but it has not moved. I can see where it is.

Hopefully someone with a bit more experience than I have can chime in. sounds kinda strange that it buried and stayed there. How long has it hid?

It looks like it is slowly uncovering itself. It's only been in there for a day. Just put it in. I just wanted to know how long should I wait before I should be concerned. I placed it in the tank and the exact spot I placed it is where it buried. I can see more of it now. Hope it at least moves to a different spot.

Does the sand at least look cleaner even though you don't see it?
