Sandbox's Dream Peninsula

I’m not sure what type of ATO system comes with the Waterbox Peninsula so, I may be returning the ATO I bought. Still waiting for my return pump, filter cups, lights and oh yeah, my tank!

@Sandbox - Very nice build thread mate!!
How do you like that ATO system you bought, since it's fairly new?
I went with the ATK Kit since everything will be integrated w/ #Apex.
Any new updates on which sump you went with?

Thank you very much!! I haven’t hooked the ATO up yet, but once I do I will do a review on it :). I’m using the sump that came with the tank. So far so good! How do you like the APEX?

Slow and steady is the best way I say. I'm just setting up a bio cube my husband got for me. It took me 2 months to get it clean enough to where I would start a build thread ;Hilarious. I really like the peninsula style tanks. Wish I could have one but we don't have a spot for that style.[/QUOT
Sorry I just saw this post. Yep, slow and steady almost too slow lol. How exciting I hope your tank brings happiness:). Maybe you will have spot for it one day! Thank you again.

Programmed the Orphek today and still adding water. The transfer from old to new should happen Sunday. My fish are movin on up!

Looking good! I hope the transfer goes smoothly. I don't miss all the moves my husband and I did. ;Nailbiting. Your dog is so cute;Joyful
Thank you! My husband is not looking forward to it lol. He loves watching it , but not the doing. We have three buttheads. My pups!

Beautiful. LOL, that third one looks like the troublemaker of the group.
Thank you so much! If you only knew sigh... Stella was my first explosive detection K9. She is currently 11 years old and has been trouble all 9 years I had her lol.

Today the old tank will be transferred to my 5526. I've never owed a reef ready tank, let alone something like this. I have couple newbie questions and I was wondering if you or anyone else with this set up can help. How do you fill up and start this tank? Do I fill up from the display, through the overflow and into the sump until the return pump is covered and then turn the pump on? Or do you fill up the display up to the overflow, but not beyond then fill up the sump, turn on the pump and adjust the gate valve? Any detailed step by step instruction would really be helpful. I hear the magic spot is about one inch below the emergency drain, is that true? Also, do you mark the sump levels and how do you test in case of a power failure. Sorry for all the questions and thank you in advance.

Love your dogs. Nice build thread. I’m about to push the button on the same tank. Your tank looks great and glad it is working out. I think you will love it.
Although my current tank is not a peninsula, I do have a sump and I find it best to let the water drain into the sump and once you feel there is a decent amount of water in both the tank and sump, you can start the return pump and then adjust the gate valve to level the water. I feel it’s best to start the return before the full amount of required water in the sump is met. It is easier to level off the sump by adding more water while the return pump is on. It seems daunting but it really works out well, just have water available To top off the sump once things get going. Then you can set up your ATO system and filtration devices. The key is to adjust the gate valve to the point where the water in the sump stays level during circulation. So, closing the gate valve will cause the tank water to rise and opening it will cause the sump water to rise. Just find the middle :)
Good luck!

Thank you so much for the kind words and advice! Our pups are buttheads but we wouldn't trade them for the world lol. I really think you will love this tank as well. Their customer service via social media is awesome and very quick to respond. Personally, I could never get them on the phone. The cabinet is hard to assemble due to lack of instructions and there are different sized hinges for different doors. If you have any questions please hit me up!

She’s up and running!!!!! Still trying to dial in my protein skimmer. I love this tank! Don’t mind the ghetto screen on top. Needed something to keep my fish in while I wait for my lid. Today or tomorrow I need to hook up my ATO as well. Pictures from my iPhone.
