just wondering where you have this monti? i've had a tiny frag for probably a year now and it grew about 1/8 inch. all the rest of my sps grow fine. right now it's in about 200 par.
thanks

Well I always thought of this as more of a porites than a monti, but either way high light and good flow is what's recommended. Mine has probably grown a 3/4 inch rim from the thumbnail frag that started a year or so ago. At the same time, I do nothing to encourage sps growth (no reactor, no supplements). More specifically, mine is about 4-5 inches below the surface and I'm running a 4-bulb T5 tek light fixture. Hope that helps, but if you find a better answer please do share.

I have mine in 100-120 par and get good growth. I have a few of them the biggest is almost 4" round all grown from one dime size frag about two years ago. I will try to get som pics.

I cut a few frags and then just kept them. So now i have about six mini colonies

Sorry I missed my answers. Thanks for the info. So far its still living just not growing. I'm gonna try to move it up.

I don't know that I would move it up I seem to get the best growth in 80-120 par about what most people keep zoas in. Iv had it under higher light and it gets more green in the base but I didn't get better growth.

Mine is fairly low and I get decent growth, medium water flow. Maybe move is a bit lower and change the position to get higher flow.

My pink polyp sand dollar is 6" in front and 4 inches below an MP40 in my tank. It loves the high flow and has great polyp extension, plus grows very fast. I'm not sure of the PAR, but I run an 8 bulb ATI Powermodule over a 24" deep tank. The light is 9' inches above the tank. These seems to love the higher flow areas.

Good indrect flow for mine, it's right near my overflow in the top & back of the tank just a couple inches outside of direct coverage from my pendant. Steady grower it will soon be @ war w/my sunset monti.

This coral def appreciates the flow. Lighting wise you can keep it anywhere. Higher light brings out brighter polyps and a much better looking base color IMO. It can range from a nice subtle blue to almost green IME. Truly is an awesome coral and grows like a weed once its happy.

Totally agree. grows real fast once happy.

Not sure if it's the normal growth pattern but my over five year old sand dollar has slowly been sprouting pillars. It's quite nice.

Thanks to all the replys. I'll start with more flow and go from there. It's one of my favorite montis and of course its the only one not growing.
