Anyone has had experience using one of these? I have AIO 45 gal cube and was considering to add this to the back to reduce algae. I do not have sump so am limited to certain options available out there. Do you think it makes a difference and worth the price and trouble. I’m not much of a diy person either.

The ATS works very well. Cannot say specifically about the SM units since I am a big DIY'er.

Thank you. I will look into to ATS.
I will let you know in a few weeks! I have one coming in the mail next week. I have about 210 gal volume total in my system and currently am running a tiny DIY algae scrubber using a 5k led bulb and a breeding net box in my sump lol. definitely time for an upgrade. I bought the SM Surf 4x algae scrubber that has the upgraded lighting. Remember if you do go that route you need a powerful air pump to drive the upflow in the reactor. I am using an Alita 6lpm which is about 10 lpm output oddly enough lol. I pump air from the outside of the house to help drive out extra CO2 through the skimmer venture. Highly recommend this method if your pH is on the low side like mine.
