Would these two triggers be compatible in a 400 reef? I'd like a male blue throat and a sargassum which I understand is very hard to sex

I'm thinking in 400g you are going to be fine, Although 2 males may have the same issue as 2 male bluejaws. It would be great if you lucked out with a female sargassum. I would say try it as long as think you could pull one out if it gets too hairy.

I agree with the above thoughts. There shouldn't be much of an issue in a tank that size.

I mostly agree, but would only be that confident on the odds with an alternate tank on hand where they could be moved to in the even that things didn't work out.

"Just in case" ya know?

We have this same combination in our 300. No issues so far but it has only been a month and we added them pretty small (~3" each). In a past tank we had a blue throat, pink tail & niger with no issues.
