Picked up a indo colony yesterday to find a crab living in it.
I think it's safe but could anyone tell me for definite.
Thanks

he is very pretty, i tend not to trust crabs in general, but yeah the hairy ones tend to be very curious and destructive

he is most likely fine to have around and may require association of coral since he has such bright colors

Yes that is an acro crab. It is smooth in texture. If you wish to dip the acro, I suggest your separate the crab from the acro first. They wont do well with dips.

Its not uncommon when buying or collecting corals and anemone to find small crab species living amongst the corals, These are invariably harmless species which have a symbiotic relationship with the coral. While the coral provides shelter and possibly a bit of mucus to feed upon, the crab also returns the favor by acting as the coral's guard, fending off coral predators and parasites. Very pretty crustacean !!

Only thing is I dipped the coral and did not realise it was in there until I started blowing off the coral.
That was 2 days ago though and it's still alive so hopefully it will be OK.

I dipped all of my acro colonies just like i would anything else and all of my acro crabs survived. I think the dip just stuns them for a bit.
