So I'm upgrading from my first 20g and I was all set to acid wash my rock which has hydroid digitates, bryopsis, green algae and vermetid snails but then I see all the ball anemones and little featherdusters and who know what else and it got me wondering if there was a way to have my cake and eat it too. Keep all the good stuff and get rid of the bad. This has sure been a great lesson in the importance of a QT...

I personally wouldn't risk it and would just acid bathe the rock. think of the ongoing issues you'll be dealing with if you don't. if it were just gha and vermetids, that's one thing, but bryopsis and hydroids? it's so easy to nuke the rock and start over.

Yea... and I figure I'll get a seeding rock from the lfs for microfauna. Thanks, I felt like I had to put this question out there even though I knew the answer.

Yes, I'm sure some local reefers have small rock rubble with little goodies on it.
