Hey everyone!

I bought a powder brown tang from a local fish store in TN! He's in quarantine now and appears to be settling in nicely. Unfortunately, I see a few spots on him, but that's what quarantining is for. He will undergo hyposalinity treatment until his Cryptocaryon infection is dealt with and perhaps a few formalin baths as an second method of treatment. This was what I used to get rid of a severe infection on our yellow tang that I "rescued" from Petco.....

Anyways! Please let me know what experience(s) any of you have had with powder browns, powder browns with other tangs, etc.

Here's a picture of our new addition in his quarantine tang!

^+1, good luck with it. I've tried to keep a white cheek tang twice, if I ever get a good quarantine set up I'll try a Powder Brown.

Great fish! Now I wish I had a bigger tank :-(.

Where in MS you from?

Gorgeous tang!!

wow she a beaut for sure i have a red sea sailfin tang she doing good and good luck with urs

Every time I see one of of these I always wonder what moron named it a "powder brown", its like naming your kid *******. Great looking fish, crappy name.

Thanks for all the comments! He's eating New Life Spectrum Finicky Fish Formula, gosh that stuff was expensive for a pelleted feed! Might have just been the place I got it, but the important thing is he's eating and is very active. Started lowering the salinity on the tank. Let's hope for a swift recovery and a nice long life in the display tank! :)

rewlee: I'm currently a student at MSU! What size tank do you have?

dorky: I love sailfin tangs! Looked at several today, but decided to get this guy.

slickwill613: I agree! Powder brown doesn't suit this fish at all.

Nice fish been thinking about adding either powder brown or Achilles tang to my system

right now a 44G. Moving up to a 90G in a month or 2. Still not very much room for a big ole tang like that.

and Im a student at the good Mississippi school, USM

Graham you go to MSU? I'm a mechanical engineering phd candidate at state...

Powder brown tang is doing great! Day 10 of quarantine and looks like the Cryptocaryon is gone... 3 formalin baths later..... He's eating like a champ and getting nice and fat! Very pleased with another tang. Probably my favorite group of fish.
