Looking for a new light setup for my 90 gallon mixed reef. How many units and what sizes have you used? How is the noise level from the fans the tanks in my living room?

What are the dimensions.
I'm sitting next to a 16in model and I can't hear the fans.

Get a 32 inch and hang it in the middle. Most aquascapes don't have coral growing out of the side panels.

It's 48" long with a 12" wide middle support glass panel. So there are two open areas on top on each side of the support panel that are 18" wide.

A 30 or 32 would be fine.

A 16in model lights a 20x 20 area pretty well at 14 in

You can set both light to be less spot light ish by pulling some or all of the lenses.
There's a LOT more power in the lights than most need on a tank that size.

Thanks! How high will the supplied legs allow you to raise the lights?

Do you use the WiFi unit? Wondering how well the app functions. I'm an Apple guy.

I belive it's 12 to 14 in.
I'm on a ramping not wifi.
You might get a few more hits here this week on the wifi question.

I'll add, I hung mine. It's just sleeker and easier imo. I can adjust the heith pretty quickly because I used a nice looking chain.

I have two 16" ramping over my 75g. 48x18x20, standard Aqueon 75g. I believe the 90 is just a bit taller. They are about 10" over the water hung in the makeshift canopy I slapped together with scrap in the shop. I know they have the power to grow SPS, I just can't get my water in check to think about trying just yet. I'm very close to a reboot... not because of the lights tho.

You can see there is a shadow in the middle where the center brace is, but the light spreads out and merges together by the time it gets halfway yu the sand bed.

One thing I'll add on the ramping. Get one long one if you can't put up with them not keeping time. No matter how many times I program them in about a week one will be off by at least 30 seconds and it gets longer from there.

Thanks. That's exactly what I wanted to see. Looks like you turned the legs upside-down and attached them to the canopy. Clever! Are they too heavy to connect them together (with a couple of straight pieces of tubing) and use the legs on the outside edge to carry the weight? Are you using the WiFi connection?

I started out with a pair of 16" over my 75g (same footprint as your 90) but didnt like the included stands as the discoball affect was pretty strong mounted at that height (thought they were 10" off the water with the included stands but I don't remember). I removed all the lenses and that helped quite a bit.

Looking through my build log, the light (SBReef) was nine inches above the water using the included mount (highest I could get it).

I have a 48x24x26 (130 gal) and running two 16" basic lights. I rewired them slightly so my Apex will run them and ramp up and down. Very happy with the lights.

How do you remove lenses from the SB lights? Does this increase the spread of the lights?
youtube. open the box, lift the lid pop off the lenses. take a pic first.

lenses are 40 60 and 90 degree. no lenses is 180. (hold your arms out wide)
if you like the amount of light you have right now, measure with a lux meter at the peak, pull the lenses< then increase the percentage till it matches the same lux intensity.

I left some of the Blue and whites to help penetrate and to keep some shimmer.
