Hi Folks! I an having a difficult time capturing te gold specks in SBB Hephaestus. I also notice the images I see where the specks are more vivid appear to have been taken with a yearly filter which also changes the look of the polyp colors completely.

Does anyone have any experience /tips capturing the natural beauty of these polyps?

here are a couple of images I was able to capture.

As for a camera what are you using ?

Nikon d3100 and sigma 105mm macro lens. I have a couple of filters also I use sometimes.

Sometimes sqmsung s10+ in pro mode and also have lens kit for phone.

Do you use Adobe Lightroom? If shooting in RAW then go into Lightroom and jack the color temp setting all the way to 50000k. This will help take away a lot of the blue in your picture and bring the other colors out.

Don't use any filters on your Nikon unless shooting in all intense blue lighting. If able to bring white light in then put some white light on it and Just use the camera. Adjust the color temp in Lightroom from there.

I use Corel Aftershot pro 3. Didn't want to pay for photo storage with lightroom.

I have adjusted the temp setting on on many of my photographs.

I ordered the filters to experiment with. I do favor my lighting to be on the bluer side.

Maybe I'll try taking some shots under more white lighting.
