Since I'm still planning the tank move on Friday - anyone used IO reef crystals for their salt mix? I've been buying RPM redline from the LFS already mixed, however the tank I'm getting they've been using IO salt. Not sure if I should go buy some IORC and mix up a batch at home or just stick with the RPM redline.

I'm planning to save ~90-100 gallons from the tank move which makes me lean towards mixing up RC salt since that's what has been running in the tank

I use IO... but what's REALLY the question??

Question was keep with IO or switch to RPM :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:

My thoughts were not to mix salts, thus just go with the IO

So instead of doing WCs, you're just dosing and running reactors to keep parameters in check?
Dosing :) calcium, alk, nitrate, phos, all for reef

Wc on 300+ gallons is too expensive.

And uptake is higher than a weekly water change can produce.

Time to get Alcatraz from @stoney7713
My wife and I were able to coax it out today. I made a rookie mistake though - I hadn't turned off the wave makers. It rolled right into one of my SBB RFAs, which promptly ate the jawbreaker.

RIP top orange shroom.

I feel you. Lost a many this way. I finally said no more after losing about 500 in mushrooms.

That's my brother. I buy it, acclimate and everything. Then I call him, and he'll just drop by. Or I keep it here and he just comes whenever. He has it good

With all your torches, he could probably come by and take one without you noticing it missing :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:
She has them all chipped probably. Most likely could track you down across country.

Depending on size of shroom that goes on walkabout... Will get proper size hose and syphon them into 5 gal bucket, retrieve and place in a safe place

I mean what DO YOU want the answer to be... a lot of times when you flip a coin.. that brief second the coin is in the air, close your eyes and what do you hope the coin lands on?

If that was me... I'd order two IO salt buckets at petco (get a discount when you do in-store pick up)... use the IO salt to transfer and set up the new tank... keep using IO for daily smaller water changes to stabilize the tank. Once it settles in a month or two you can start doing smaller wc with the rpm salt. This would save you some money in RPM salt.
