I did for a year when my tank was new. It helped water clarity and with dinos early on, but when I turned it off after a year I didn't notice any difference.

I used it directly on display for dinos on new tank. Completely wiped them out, amazing. I removed it because it was an eyesore in the display. I'm thinking about adding it back into the sump with a separate return pump. I just don't know if it's worth the hassle
