Ok tank experts… why do some of my corals stay open 24/7 but some close up if a fish even looks at them funny or when the lights start to dim?

I have two torches right next to one another. One is always open and the other opens and closes like 5 times a day. It’s still growing and splitting heads.

Dude I dunno. I have a torch or two that look bad at the end of the day. They look great from sun up till an hour or two before lights off.

I dunno if they're "sick", too much light, too much flow, or what. All the other LPS and most torches seem happy. If you figure it out lmk lol.

I wanna be a marine biologist one day and this is a nice place to start
I also love the beach and the ocean and having it in my room, next to my bed, falling Asleep with me is kinda cool

I can almost tell time by which coral is open or closed, some seem to have an internal clock.

Then there's the swish of a tail, maybe something is trying to make it home.
