As some of you know, I am in the middle of my 280 gallon build. I have a 2-1/2 year old son who wants his 280 done yesterday. Unfortunately, he does not understand the concept of patience. He is so excited and comes and spends lots of father son time in the garage with me while I work on this rather large project. So, my wife asks me this morning about possibly getting something small to pacify him and quite honestly myself as well. It didn't sound like a bad idea. I started to look and stumble upon this system. Seems like it would serve the purpose for now. Also, I thought it that maybe it could double as sort of a quarantine tank for when the large tank is up and running. I could let that system get cycled and start getting some livestock and what not then move the healthy stuff to the big tank. Anyone know of this particular brand and how it performs?

Very cute. Don’t know about that specific tank, but 50g is a good size. For me the more important question is do you have time to manage two tanks and a toddler?:)

Of course. I've had tanks in the past. But just one at a time and my largest was a 150 gallon.

Son absolutely loves fish. He wants to go to the fish store every weekend. It started with finding Nemo, finding dori, now he watches Disney's Oceans. Tonight when him and mom got home I was already in the garage working on the 280 he came running up to me telling "daddy, daddy! Can we go to the fish store tomorrow?"

I have the sca 50G Cube. One of the best complete tanks available especially for the money.
No complains. I did build my own piping and after 6 months, upgraded the skimmer to a much larger one. But the sca skimmer did perform well.
If you are local to the HQ, give them a call and they maybe able to get a deal and they will install the stand for you when you go pickup.
