SCA 301 Replacement Pump - Too darn loud

Hi all,

I have an SCA 50 gallon cube and I am trying to find a replacement pump for the SCA 301 skimmer that came with my tank. it skims well but the pump is really really loud - it is an atman 1100.

I took it apart and the impeller was broken. I had them send me a replacement and this one is even louder...

I have roommates and would like the quietest pump/skimmer possible. Can I replace the pump with a better one?

Should I just bite the bullet and get a new skimmer? if so, which one performs well and is super quiet?

Skimmers by their nature make a fair bit of noise. That said, I really like the vertex omega line. They have all the important things to quiet them down and perform really well.
