SCA 50 gal build thread

This is my first saltwater tank, I have had fresh water tanks for many years now and wanted a new challange.

Equipment

SCA PNP 50 gal system
Ocean Revive T247B light
Sca skimmer
2x Jaebo pp4
Sockit filter sock mount
Smart micro ATO
Marine Pure spheres
40 Lbs pukani rock
30 pounds ocean direct Fiji pink sand

Used all 1 inch red pvc from BRS to plumb with a Herbie overflow.

Got the RODI unit up and mixing station completed.

While finishing build of tank I got a few additions in qt. My kids named them Nemo and Marlin.

Completed water test and everything was good except for one small leak from the overflow bulk head. A quick turn and all fixed. So it was time for sand and saltwater. I used the hw refer mix and I must say I am new to saltwater but it mixed incrediable easy and cleared within 1 hr. The sand settled out after a couple hrs.

After running for a few days I realized there is a skimmer change in the near future. It is pretty loud. The return pump that comes with the sca kit is actually really quite.

Replaced the skimmer with a reef octopus 110SSS and man is it silent. And on a plus side it matches my plumbing.

Sadly two days after putting the clowns in qt they started showing signs of Brook and the larger of the two didn't make it but on a plus side I was able to save the smaller and he is thriving now thanks to the incredible knowledge of @Humblefish

My tank is finally cycled and diatoms are starting to show.

Thank you, I am just happy one of them made it. He now has a happy home in my daughters tank with a few fire fish. I will try and add some pictures tonight of my new additions.

Added two clownfish today. They were in a friends qt tank and he decided to go a different direction so I offered to buy them. My son decided there names should be Bobba Fett and Aura Sing.

Thanks I hope to be adding some corals soon but am taking it slow

Not much new to post yet I ordered a flame hawk and a cuc from blue zoo aquatics. I am starting to see some bright green algae on some of my rocks. It is not slimy or hairy and I can't brush it off with a stiff bristle brush, so I am not sure what it is. My diatoms are nearly gone now.

Sorry the picture is really bad just using my phone. It is a bright almost lime green color.
