Well this is my second large aquarium. 2 years ago I had a 60 cube for about a year and tore it down and regretfully sold everything, now I got the itch and started a new one up. I forgot how much fun and challenging it can be.

So I had started with a 15 gallon column tank for a little over a month. 20lbs live rock, cycled quick. 3 weeks in added two Clowns and a frogspawn.

Anyways, that tank wasn't enough. Hated not having a sump, so I searched and searched and found the sca 66 gallon with sump on Facebook for sale. Drove over a hour to get it and loved it. Tore down the 15 gallon and then moved the new tank into position. I then put new sand in and all the old live rock. Only 20lbs. I put the old sand in a pitcher to put into the tank (changed colors) and put some in the sump. I had forgot I needed more rodi water and no fish store close by. Over a hour a way as well. And the wernt open for 3 days. So I figure tap water with declornizer would work for now. Got it all mixed and added it in. (I know big mistake)

Threw everything in and let it be, the next day I finished up the plumbing and got it going after two trips to the hardware store 25 min away. (Living in the "country" sucks at times)
6 days later my skimmer comes in the mail along with 40lbs dry rock, mount for my light, and a few small things. Got some more work to do.

Ps. Not very good at long posts. Sorry all but will love to get some feed back here and their. Not a beginner but not a pro.

update! Ordered a brs rodi 75 value plus system with the tds meter. Should be here Friday and ill do a large water change! I got the skimmer and today I'm going to run it through a vinegar bath! Skimmer is way over rated but a upgrade in tank will happen so I wanted to be prepared its the reef octopus 150s space saver 6" diameter.

So, alittle more on back story. My old 60g cube tank.

Originally I had a 39 gallon with no sump. Had it going for about 4 months and then I got a call that my tank was leaking. I rush home to find the bottom panel had cracked. So I had every bucket snd Rubbermaid bin full of water rock and coral and fish. Luckily it was tax season and I had some money. So I called every fish store. A few in st louis area! And found a 60 cube for around what I wanted to spend. So I grabbed it. Got it home and filled it back up. All with in about 5 hours. Alot of work! It sucked. But I got a better tank and I was happy. I loved the tank, but I decided 1 year later to tear it down and move on because of a kid. Here's some pictures of my 60 cube!

Looking great!

Skimmer still acting up or did it break in finally?

We had to lift ours a bit to get the water level where we wanted it for it to skim properly (of course in a different setup) but works fine now ;)

Keep up the good work and post pics when you finish the water station!

No skimmer still going nuts. I run it all day and turn it off at night. I've raised my water level in my sump to about 8" still didn't work. At first the water I thought was too low. I had the skimmer in a bucket with 8" of water and was running perfect. Put it back into tank not good. I have to let it just over flow into the sump. Figuring it needs to break in still. But idrk...

The mixing station is all done. It is what it is. I dont have as much head room as I wish but I made do with it all. Rodi unit isn't staying in there. It'll be in the house with a line ran through the concrete eventully. Before freezing can happen. Got two mixing power heads and a heater In the bottom can.

If your skimmer is overflowing you can do 1 of 2 things either raise the skimmer up out of the water more or lower the water level in the sump.

That looks great!

I'm thinking of doing something similar but I have a lot less space to work with hahah

Well if you have a farm and home type shop around you they got water containers that are diffrent sizes. That could be a possibility. I wanted them stacked because I didn't want to buy pumps to pump eater. I wanted it all to be gravity fed
