SCA 80 gallon plumbing questions

I am currently in the process of plumbing...First question is I am planning changing the return on the tank from durso to herbie. I found a couple articles on line but nothing super definitive on the dimensions required. Do I make the emergency over flow height basically the same as display water height? Then knock 6 inches off that for the full syphon tube?

Second question... I choose to go with the 30 inch Marine Depot Trigger systems sump. The plan with that sump was to use the ATO as a dedicated refugium (which it was designed to do) I planned on making a manifold system for my return pump. So do I have to have a port from that going to refugium OR do I T-off the drain line and use a valve to control the flow?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. As I am new to the saltwater hobby and this is my first tank....I am also open to opinions if someone has a better idea.

In a properly setup herbie system, the emergency height dictates the display water height. The main siphon just has to be under far enough to create a siphon without a vortex on top. With that said, in my herbie setup I just use the bulkhead as my main siphon line(center tower style overflow). Assuming yours is similar? I have the 80G cube from SCA. 2 outer holes are my siphon and emergency, and the center hole is the return.

As far as your fuge setup, I would not T off the drain line(can cause issues when trying to tune it). I would simply T off your return pump with a gate valve so you can adjust the flow into the fuge. I'm not familair with that sump, but does the fuge drain back into the return section?

Thanks for response! Just so I understand your bulk head is your full siphon? You dont have any sort of stand tube or anything on it?

As far as my sump...yes the fuge drains into the return.

Nope, just a bare bulkhead with a strainer on it.

I do this so when I shut off my pump, the entire center tower overflow drains down so when I do my WC I can just suck out the first chamber of my sump for a nice 10G's.

New reefer here, I have purchased the same sca 80 cube tank with the holes in the overflow. I was wondering if anyone had pictures of their overflow setup and their sump plumbing?
