I’ve been dead set on getting a Waterbox 130.4 and have read a lot of good things but my LFS is saying he has had nothing but problems with them (he is a vendor for them and doesn’t stock Red Sea for which my other LFS has mentioned problems with them). I didn’t get a brand name but am thinking he is suggesting a SCA build to use with some stand and Acrylic sump. Do you all have any experience with SCA or know of the Waterbox issues that are being suggested?

I looked at a Waterbox (220). I then got custom quotes from SCA and Glasscages. Both friendly. Good companies. Send them an email , they both will respond and are very helpful. Good luck!

I have an sca 180 and like everything except the overflow teeth.

Yes I wish it was external it drained Down considerably so I made some modifications to the teeth with black acrylic.

I have purchased several tanks from SCA from a 50 gallon up to a 150 gallon. Build quality has been excellent. Great price for starfire glass tanks. Tanks have arrived packed well and in great shape. Very heavy tanks!

SCA is great. Steve is helpful and responsive. You can also get custom tanks and stands from him. He will also drill for you to install a Reef Savvy overflow.

I have a older Waterbox 135.4 and have had nothing but joy come out of it. Waterbox and RedSea will go to the ends of the earth to make sure your tank is what it's supposed to be. A few people in our Washington state community have Waterboxes. I know two for sure that have received chipped damaged tanks and though they weren't leaking Waterbox still sent brand new tanks. I received one of the chipped tanks (which is at the top of the tank in the back and no issues to the structure), long story short WB makes quality tanks and cabinets. Do defects and damage happen "YES" every company is subject to a few, but overall if you buy a new WB or RS know that both companies will go to great lengths to make sure you're happy. I'm not sure why your LFS has that opinion but you're in the right place to get tons of opinions. My setup is in the build thread in signature. Let me know if you have any questions or need more info I'm happy to share my experience with the WB and their customer service. I'm not saying that you need to go with either, but you wouldn't be going wrong if you did. Looking forward to hearing about where you end up!

I ended up ordering a Waterbox 130.4, slated to come in at the end of June!
Happy to hear it! I look forward to your review! Next you'll be planning a custom build for your next tank. I am :) Lol
