Scales missing ?

I noticed my clownfish has, what looks to be, some scales missing, or fukes(?). Eating, swimming and acting normal. I have not seen it scratching on anything. It is in a breeder tank with its pair and a clay pot and live rock, no anemones or corals. What could cause this?

Mechanical damage or bite from its mate are possible explanations.
