Scammed by nemguy123

Beware of buying from @Nemguy123. I paid for 2 gigantea anemones on July 18, which he expected he would have available, treat, and ship to me in a few weeks.

Every few weeks, he would respond saying he didn't receive them and he would have them in 1-2 weeks. This went on all the way up to the end of September.

On Sep 28, I tried to request a refund through Venmo but accidentally sent another payment to which Nemguy123 (aka Tom) acknowledge and stated he would refund the full amount that weekend. Since then, he has not responded to multiple requests and refuses to refund me. I made the unfortunate mistake of trusting him based on his feedback here and a fellow local club member that had a good experience with him. Not sure what changed but beware of conducting any business with @Nemguy123.

Sorry to hear that, unfortunately this is why as a seller or buyer I try to use PayPal goods whenever possible. You're definitely way more patient than I would have been. Hopefully wasn't intentional and everything gets resolved.

This is not good to hear. I think the first indicator for me would have been requesting payment for an item the seller does not even have in their possession. Hopefully you paid with a cc and you can dispute the charges with your cc company.

Yes fault lies with me as I understood he had a good reputation on R2R and a local club member who bought from him also had positive things to say. Unfortunately Venmo will not allow me to dispute.

After posting this, sounds like other people have had a similar experience with @Nemguy123 recently.

Did you use a credit card? If so I would at least contact the credit card company not venmo.

Thanks for posting this. If nothing else maybe you have saved some others from the same bad experience.

Unfortunately I didn't. I was able to stop payment through my bank for the 2nd transaction but Venmo still paid him on their side so I still am out the whole amount

Oh man, sorry you’re going through this.

I’ve transacted with Tom in-person before for a gigantea, and wouldn’t have expected this from him. But, this makes me wish Blue Kai was still treating and selling gigs (where I have both mine from).

Yea I heard great things about Tom before, which led me to be comfortable Venmoing him. I heard from another buyer that also dealt with Tom in person before that recently is also having the same issue as me. Not sure what is going on with him.

Tsk tsk... That's why I won't use Venmo via a forum purchase. Seller won't cooperate or agree to me eating PayPal cost, I walk. Sucks man that your out of that cash, but cavet emptor.

Yea, lesson learned. Definitely won't do this again even if the seller has a great reputation.
