Hello all, Im trying to Scape my 73g Bowfront. The pics is of the dry rock. Im picking up some live rock from my LFS tomorrow. Basically is going to be the dry rock scape on one side and live rock on the other side. I know I have made the mistake of filling the tank before putting in the rock. Question is do you think this Scape will work? Not really concern with ecstasies just want to make sure the caves are big enough for the fish. Looking to get couple clowns a tang or 2 a dori not sure after that. Just looking for input.

Yes it's best to place the rock on the glass and not the sand because of shifting. So I'd move the sand when placing the rock. Dry rock should be "cured" before placing in your DT. Adding live rock is definitely advisable to dry rock scapes. Helps tremendously with bacterial strains.

As you may already know, a hepatus will out grow a tank that size. No tang police here. Just know from experience.

Thanks for the info. Im putting 30lbs of live rock in the tank as well. Question, I cant place the dry rock in the DT with the live rock without curing it?

Unfortunately I know, that's one of the tangs I wanted...:(:(:(

You can in tank cure. The only thing I would worry about is phosphates. Dry rock can leach P04 when not cured.

Ok, understand again thanks for the info. Do you know of a affordable light(s) I can use for my tank keeping softies and LPS once I can actually put coral in the tank. Another question. Do I need a light to maintain the live rock Im getting?

I personally use Chinese black boxes over my reef now for five years. I have the Mars Aquas, but there are others just as good. Around $110 per light fixture. Grow anything. For your tank id use two. May have to hang them from the ceiling.

My system.

As far as live rock, no ambient lighting from the room should be suffice for now.

Your tank looks great... I have high ceilings and don't want to hang the lights. Ill try and find some bracket lights. Again thanks for all your help and info....

Thank you and your welcome!
