Scared I’m under feeding my fish.

I have 2 baby clown fish, 1 yellow tailed damsel, 1 sand sifting goby, I silver bellied wrasse and 1 coral banded shrimp. I feed them twice a day with a bit of frozen Reef Frenzy Nano. I feed them what they can normally consume in a minute or two and they always eat everything. I know they say most people over feed and to take what you’re giving them and half it, but I just want to make sure. I’ve attached a picture of how much I give them. I give them this TWICE a day. Do you think this is enough? Too much? Thanks for your help.

Sure would seem like plenty to me, if they are able to eat it all in a couple minutes that is a good thing. You are correct in the thought that most overfeed and the reality is just because the fish is still eating until all the food is consumed they all have very small stomachs. To me feeding that much would be closer to over feeding than under but with frozen foods its a bit harder to overfeed, flake and pellet food are much more dense in nutrients and way easier to overfeed. All in all what you are doing seems fine in my experience but others have much more than i so im sure a few more will reply.

Thank you so much for your response. In the beginning I was feeding much more but I did cut back quite a bit that’s why I was scared maybe I cut too much. They seem happy and healthy so that’s good. I don’t want my nitrates to get up too high with over feeding either so I think I’ll keep as is and see how things go. Thanks again.

I give mine a small pinch of pellets every other day. i do a lot of random feeding, and also feed a halve/ whole frozen cube before a water change (depending on if i fed the day before) I cut off feeding one i see that all 6 of my fish have had 2-4 pellets or a couple pieces of plankton or mysis shrimp.

TL;DR i feed my fish based on what each of them eat.

Pretty much agree That that amount of food is ok for now but clowns become pretty hefty eaters so it will increase over time.

I prefer to feed livestock as often as I can as long as the system can take it or export what you put in. If the system becomes too algae filled then cutback and adjust your export/maintenance as well as increase slowly back up to allow biological filter to catch up to the increase in food. I Also think measuring out roughly and being consistent with feeding makes this process much easier.

Did your fish always eat pellets from the beginning? Mine don’t seem to care for them. I put them in but they just sink to the bottom and my coral banded shrimp usually eats them.

Yes. I have 2 misbar clownfish, a royal gramma, a falco hawkfish, a yellowtail damsel and a banggai cardinal. I got a bunch of a freebie pellet food at reefstock and l put them in a jar. i started is the first couple weeks after l got my fish by crushing up 2-3 pellets and releasing the dust into the water for them to smell, then put in the pellets a minute later. After a couple weeks of doing this, l started introducing frozen food on the weekends before a water change, like I said before. I guess my fish just will eat anything because sometime when i scrape the algae or spaghetti worms off the glass the fish will go for it.
