Scared.....

"I just read this whole post over at reef central saying that you shouldnt use any kind of foam or leveling mat on a rimmed tank"

why not? kinda has me wondering, too

Ideally it would be flat or have a thin rubber mat underneath it but because it’s a rimmed tank your probably ok

Thank you! :). I just read this whole post over at reef central saying that you shouldnt use any kind of foam or leveling mat on a rimmed tank, so now I'm confused on what I should do. They are saying that the rim takes up the imperfections of the DIY stand and only rimless needs a leveling mat.
My 360g was rimmed on 1" styro and no issue. The rubbers tuff is best

Can you get the rubber stuff at home depot? Link? I'll get some tommore just wanna make sure I get the right one.
I believe so as they sell tool boxes

What about rubber tape around the edges of my stand?

Again....no science, just an opinion.....
Just putting tape around the 'rim' doesn't address the rest of the bottom panel of glass, and -might- cause uneven stresses across the whole pane.
In my view, a full sheet of rubber mat would be best. Just check the home depot site. Put in your zip code....and see if your local store carries it.
If you were close to me, I have a huge roll of ESD rubber matting I use for my bench at work. Id give you the whole roll.

I picked up some self-adhesive foam tape and lined the 2x4's where the trim is sitting with it. It is sitting really good now and no gaps, as the bottom pane is higher than the trim I think it should be fine.
