So, would using schedule 80 elbows considerably lower the return water flow? I am going to be using Vectra M1 DC as my return pump and have 2 reactors on manifold for my reefer 350. All the gate valves are schedule 80 but I don't see the need for high flow for them anyways.

My concern is water returning to my DT, would using 3/4" schedule 40 pipes along with schedule 80 elbows be a bad idea.

Please let me know what you guys think

No it shouldn't. If my understanding is correct. Schedule 80 and Schedule 40 pipe has the same OD. Fittings are opposite from the pipe, they have the same ID but a different OD. Meaning schedule 80 fittings will be thicker than schedule 40 but the ID is the same. This is why you can mix and match 80 and 40.

Here is my Layout for my 120 with my Custom sump/Refgue.. I used all Sch 80 parts and Sch 40 pipe. Also, i used two Wye Check Valves and bunch of Cepex ball Valves throughout the job. Drains are 3/4'' and returns are 1''. Only few 90's were used but I had no choice due to room, the rest are all 45's.

How many times is your tank turning over? For a 120 gal tank I would think your drain would be at least 1.5 "

To be honest I am not sure 100%, i just know that my Aqua UV Sterilizer push's about 400gph to 450, give or take, since I have a Flow METER that's hard plumbed in to my UV... Since i have added a UV light I have yet to lose a fish and it has helped out big time with my Green hair algae problem that i FINALLY BEAT!
